Youngsters from Southport and nearby areas who have that extra special star quality are being encouraged to go along to the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre and audition for the Christmas pantomime.
Children between the ages of 9 and sixteen are being invited to tread the boards and show off their fancy footwork and audition at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre on Saturday, September 12, at 9:30am for a 10am start.
This year will be Imagine Theatre’s second year producing panto in Southport. Steve Boden who is managing director of Imagine Theatre believes their ethos of providing a top quality pantomime with a local feel was popular with audiences last year and he hopes to build on that this year.
He said: “The open audition for the children is a great way of getting the local community involved in the production and auditioning youngsters for the panto is always a lot of fun, but also a real challenge as we see so much talent!
“We are proud of the fact we are able to offer all local children the opportunity to perform in a professional production as they can learn such a lot from the experience. We had a good turn out last year, and the standard was very high, but we are hoping even more children will audition this year.
“We are looking for children with the ‘x-factor’ – that something special that makes them stand out from the crowd. They need to be bubbly, confident and great dancers who are prepared to work hard as well as having lots of fun.”
The children will be starring alongside local performers David Lonsdale from Heartbeat, radio star Claire Simmo as well as former Coronation Street star Scott Wright and Brookside’s Ann Marie Davies.
Preparations for this year’s show are already in full swing, so make sure you book your tickets to avoid missing out come Christmas time!
Aladdin runs from Friday, December 11 to Saturday, January 2016 and tickets are on sale now.
