YMCA want community to help set out future of charity

2nd June 2017

In April 2017 YMCA Sefton merged with YMCA Liverpool. The purpose of the merger was to support YMCA Sefton to grow and develop and better meet the needs of the local community and ensure the organisation is able to thrive through difficult financial times.

YMCA Sefton say: “Since April we have been working hard to maintain high standards of childcare at the nursery ensuring that we work closely with parents and carers and professionals.

We have spent time getting to know our new community, partners and stakeholders so that we can develop services that meet the needs of the people of Sefton. As part of this process we have been developing a positive working relationship with staff and trustees of the Southport Gymnastics Club which is a huge part of the history of YMCA Sefton. We hope to be able to work together as a successful partnership going forward.

There is a rich history associated with the YMCA in Southport and we know that lots of community members have many fond memories of the times they spent with us. It is now time to build on this to ensure that YMCA Sefton has a future as positive as its history and plays a key part in the lives of young people, families and the wider community for many years to come

YMCA Liverpool are committed to ensuring that key community services are developed and remain in Sefton but we need the help of the community to shape the organisations future. To start this, we are hosting 2 events at the well known YMCA Centre at Hoghton St, Southport on Tuesday 20th June.

The first event is aimed at families and community members and starts at 10am and will finish at 12 noon.

The second event is aimed at partner organisations, community groups and other stakeholders this will start at 1pm and finish at 3pm.

These events will be informal and friendly with refreshments provided and will offer the opportunity to meet members of the YMCA local leadership team and also other members of the wider YMCA family.
