A yellow weather warning comes has been put in place across the region tonight, as storm Eleanor hits the UK.
It’s the fifth named storm of the season, and Eleanor is expected to bring winds of up to 80 mph to some areas of the UK, with Southport expected to peak at around 50 mph.

The warning is in place for the region from midnight until 10pm Wednesday.
High tide in Southport will be at approximately 11.30am Wednesday 3rd January.
The Environment Agency has warned that strong winds and high tides could bring coastal flooding.
Carol Halt, the agency’s flood duty manager, said: “We urge people to stay safe on the coast – take extreme care on coastal paths and promenades, and don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger trying to take ‘storm selfies’.”
