Southport Writers’ Circle have been enjoying a very busy couple of months, having recently appeared on local radio station, Mighty FM, and hosting a successful Writing Resolution Night, which encouraged members of the Southport community to pick up pens and make 2020 a year of creativity . Now they are spreading a little loving charm, with a self styled Valentine’s Verses evening on the 13th February, 8-10pm.
Chairperson , Sean Heslin says “Based on previous years, the work brought on these nights is possibly the least romantic stuff we ever hear and hardly any of it is poetry. I think the members delight in challenging each other and the expectations of what is deemed good about love.”
Later in the year, the Circle has even more big plans around the Merseyside community, participating in the Arts Trail and a Youth Summer School is said to be in the works for sparking imagination in younger scribblers. Members have been celebrating writing success since 1971 and every year find new ways of helping writers improve their craft, but for one night only, want to focus entirely on finding just the right words to set pulses pumping and hearts aquiver.
