Worried mum fears danger crossing will take a child’s life

A worried parent has claimed a child could be killed trying to use a deeply dangerous zebra crossing in Southport.

The mother of one, who did not want to be named, brought up concerns that the road marking were ‘almost worn away’ and could not been seen clearly at the crossing on Bispham Road – while one of the flashing beacons is not working.

She said: “I used the crossing with my son and it’s a disgrace – it is deeply danger- ous!
“For a start one beacon has stopped working and, combined with the fact that the lines are so badly faded that you can hardly tell it is one, it makes it an absolute death trap.

I dread to think what the consequences could be if a driver didn’t realise it was a crossing – but if a child or elderly person stepped out thinking that their route is safe!
“A child could seriously be killed – it is simply not good enough!”
