Woodlands Animal Sanctuary have closed the doors on their open days for this year and went out on a very wet and considerably cold Sunday morning last week for their Winter Market.
They would like to thank every single person who came to support them last week because in spite of the weather, and the time of year, they managed to raise over £2000. This was a fantastic amount given the number of visitors was down dramatically on what was expected because of the weather.
There were concerns that the charity was in fact going to lose money on this open day and so to break even and even make a considerable profit was a massive relief to the hardworking team.
Liam, the newest Animal Care Assistant at the sanctuary said:
“I was surprised at how many people actually came to the open day given how wet, cold and miserable the weather was. But being new at Woodlands it was really nice to see just how much support we have”.
The trustees, staff and animals at Woodlands would therefore like to thank everyone who braved the weather and turned out for their last open day of 2017. Every penny raised goes directly towards the running costs of the sanctuary, which are in the region of £3000 per week.
With over 300 animals on site, requiring TLC 365 days a year, finances are a very important aspect of life with a charity.
The team would like to take this opportunity to wish you and all of their supporters a very happy, warm and peaceful Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
If you don’t want to wait that long and are local to the sanctuary you can pop along to Tesco at Kew in Southport on Friday 22nd December where the staff and fundraising team will be doing a bag pack, along with a couple of the resident animals, to continue their fundraising efforts to see them over the rest of the winter months.
