Last week the animals and staff at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary were very pleased to welcome Jo, deputy manager from Pets At Home in Southport, who presented them with a cheque for £3135.00 which they, along with their lovely customers have raised for Woodlands, the store’s chosen charity for the “ Buy a Christmas Dinner for A Shelter Animal “ Christmas appeal.
This money will go directly towards the care of animals at Woodlands where winter brings with it increased costs for food, heat and light etc.
Woodlands would like to thank John , the store manage , his staff and their customers at Southport Pets At Home who have been amazing in raising this amount for Woodlands and assure them that the money will be well spent looking after and rehabilitating the animals in the Sanctuary’s care. Over winter heating and food bills can increase for animals as well as for people and so such a substantial amount will really help the charity cope with these extra winter bills.
Where possible Woodlands Animal Sanctuary likes to work with local businesses, schools and voluntary groups as part of their outreach programme to help educate and inform people about how they too can help animals in their local area. Working with the Southport store gives the charity an opportunity to increase awareness of issues affecting local wildlife, in particular hedgehogs, as well as providing advice which promotes the wellbeing of domestic pets and small animals.
Liz Gould from the charity said “We have been charity partners with the Southport Pets at Home store for a number of years and regularly take some of our animals to the store as part of our education and outreach programme. We are especially grateful to the staff and customers for the fantastic amount of money raised from the 2017 Christmas Appeal which will make a real difference to our animals “
Woodlands Animal Sanctuary currently has over 300 animals at their site in Lancashire and providing the high standard of care that they are known for does cost a lot of money, so all support is very much appreciated by this independent, non-government funded registered charity.
