The first of Woodlands Animal Sanctuary’s five open days of the year is fast approaching and it’s a great way to round off the Easter break.
With a free Easter Egg hunt (for under 10’s), Easter bonnet competition, fun dog show, egg decoration station, children’s games & bouncy castle, tombola and stalls galore, it promises to be a super day out for all the family. Not forgetting the extremely good cause it’s in aid of. The local charity is totally self-funded and doesn’t receive any support from the government or local authorities. This means they need to raise the £3000 per week running costs themselves and events like this are one of the ways they do it. With over 250 animals on site, requiring care and often medication 365 days a year this is no mean feat!
So why no pop along to a friendly, family orientated fun day, and do your bit to help animals in need at the same time? Situated in the picturesque village of Holmeswood near Rufford, you will even have lovely scenery to view during your journey, with other attractions nearby, should you wish to combine your visit to the sanctuary with somewhere else.
Offering their delicious BBQ, homemade cakes, refreshments and hot and cold vegan and veggie options too, you can be sure you won’t run out of energy to enjoy all the charity has to offer during their open day.
As Woodlands open their doors, you are also welcome to meet and talk to all of the animals on site. Including the resident ponies, goats and donkeys, both their resident and rescue cats, not to mention having the opportunity to see some of the wild hedgehogs that are being rehabilitated by the charity before being released back in to the wild, from approved soft release sites.
So mark Saturday 20th April in your diary for Woodlands Easter Open Day, and come rain or shine, bring your family and friends along for a great day out and support a good cause at the same time.
Admission charges do apply: £1.50 Children, £3 Adults and please note all events are subject to change.
