A Southport man was due to appear in court after a woman was assaulted and kidnapped in the town earlier this week.
The male, named by police as Peter Rimmer, has been charged with a number of offences following the terrifying ordeal in the early hours of Monday, July 15.
At around 8.45am on Monday Merseyside Police officers received a report a woman had been assaulted in a car in an unidentified area of the resort.
The force said the woman suffered injuries to her arm which didn’t need medical attention.
Rimmer, 25, of Ribble Avenue, was charged with assault, kidnap, making threats to kill and criminal damage.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said “We can confirm that a man has been charged following reports that a woman was assaulted inside a car in Southport on Monday 15 July.
“Peter Rimmer, 25, of Ribble Avenue, in Southport, has been charged with criminal damage, kidnap, assault, theft and making threats to kill.
“He was due to appear at Merseyside Domestic Violence Remand Court on Thursday 18 July.”
