Officers are appealing for information after a 75-year-old woman from Southport sadly died following a serious road traffic collision on Wennington Road yesterday afternoon (Thursday 14 September).
At around 1.45pm we received a report that a white Vauxhall Mokka was involved in a collision on Wennington Road where the vehicle struck a post outside a property.
The woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital in a serious condition but sadly died a short time later.
Her family have been made aware and are being supported by a specially trained Police Officer and we would ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the lady who died following this collision. We are investigating the circumstances of this incident and HM Coroner has been made aware.
“Wennington Road has since been re-opened and I thank the local community for their patience and understanding.
“If anyone saw the 23 plate white Vauxhall Mokka in the area at the time, I would be grateful if they could give my team a call.
“Similarly, I would urge any residents who have any CCTV or doorbell footage at their properties on Wennington Road to check and see if it has captured the build up to this incident. Any piece of information, no matter how small or insignificant it may appear, could assist us in our investigation.”
