Police have confirmed a Waterloo man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a woman at a bus stop in Southport this morning.
The victim has seen been taken to hospital after the male reportedly assaulted her with a brick and threatened to kill her.
She is now receiving treatment for lacerations to her head and other facial injuries. It’s understood the pair knew each other prior to the attack.
A police spokesman confirmed “We have arrested a man after it was reported a woman was assaulted in Southport this morning (Tuesday 29 September).
It was reported at 8.20am that a man struck a woman with a brick and kicked her to the head on Lord Street close to Mecca bingo.
She has been taken to hospital for treatment to a laceration to the head and facial injuries.
Officers attended and a 30-year-old man from Waterloo was arrested on nearby Belmont Street on suspicion of Section 18 assault and threats to kill.
Enquiries into the incident are at an early stage, but it is believed the suspect and victim are known to each other.
