Will Birkdale’s Christmas Tree upstage Southports?

Birkdale residents are secretly worried their Christmas tree will be mocked compared to Southport’s.

The village turns on its Christmas lights on the 6th of December but worries villagers have said they don’t think their tree will be any good.

One trader said “I’ve seen the massive tree in Southport which all the money has gone on and we can’t compete with that. I don’t know what we pay all this money for because every Christmas it’s up to businesses like me to put a fayre on for everyone while Southport gets it all.”

“Hillside and Ainsdale have lovely trees but because they work hard like we do. I worry that people will think the Birkdale tree is no good.”
