OTS News recently ran a brief article concerning what Kev Donnellon, the Labour Candidate for Ainsdale, had said about throwing out “anti-semites” within his party.

Mr Donnellon soon visited OTS Facebook (16th April) claiming that he did not “remember” writing the above comments. He stated: “I don’t remember saying this – although I probably would have said summat similar”
NB. “Summat” is apparently slang for ‘something’.
No permission is required to accurately quote what prospective candidates say and write in public. Or is Labour now seeking to ‘censor’ voters from what we need to know about them? Are they only interested if supplying Southport residents with selective information that they have vetted first? One could understand such restrictive activity in Stalin’s totalitarian regime but today in the UK?

Voters have also been treated to Mr Donnellon’s single-page ‘Labour Voice’ leaflet, as follows.
Some residents may suggest to this candidate that he should add one more vital pledge to his impressive list above.
‘I pledge to try harder to remember what I have previously written. ’
The question of throwing antisemitic members out of the party is hardly something this candidate should fail to remember writing about. Forgetting critical debates is also not very professional. It is a deadly serious matter and not one to be flippantly jotted down for entertainment or to impress other activists and then be forgotten about.
Naturally, residents need their elected reps to remember a lot of essential things, so good memory is vital for the proposed role. Moreover, all the vindictive shouting by noisy Labour activists online will not change this fact.
Being a ‘VOICE’ for any community relies on the ability to recall what one has written down and said. Expecting the community to settle for less is an insult and simply will not do!
Labour also seemed to find amusement in a previous election when they blurted:
“Despite the defeats and how the local electorate has repeatedly rejected the Lib-Dem’s spin; such as the low brow campaigning they engaged in with leaflets such as this by their now ex-councillor Fred Weavers (a tactic also employed in Norwood), the Lib-Dems still have not learnt. “
Although Fred may have lost, we now have witnessed what Labour is made of. The comrades’, ever-so-childish, lampooning and dismissal of the antisemitic Labour mess both nationally and within their own party, (and especially in Kew) changes nothing!

Again, Labour’s obvious lack of professionalism sings out loud and clear – even if some of the candidates cannot ‘remember’ very much about it all.
