Waterworks shut busy Birkdale street

A busy side road which connects Birkdale Village to Upper Aughton Road and vice versa is shut to traffic because of urgent water works.

United Utilities are installing a new water mains connection for a property on Alma Road and have apologised to residents and businesses in the area for the inconvenience.

The closure has mostly impacted businesses who trade at Birkdale Mews with staff and customers unable to easily access the business park.

The works are expected to be finalised on Friday subject to any unforeseen delays.
