WATCH | Pensioner hit and run incident at Southport Hospital
A pensioner has been caught on camera in a blatant hit and run incident at Southport hospital.
The elderly woman, who was driving a white VW Polo was caught on another drivers dash cam pulling out into stationary traffic from a car park at the Town Lane Hospital before smashing into his car. The woman, seemingly unwilling to stop and assess the damage, is then witnessed driving through the hospital grounds before escaping at a set of red lights, putting more people in danger due to her irresponsible actions.
The entire incident was caught on camera by the victim, who is now appealing for the woman to come forward for insurance purposes.
A number of witnesses at the hospital also caught the woman’s dangerous actions on camera. The woman is believed to be from the local area and had visited a relative in the hospital.
Her registration is DA63 YXU and anyone with any information is asked to come forward or contact Merseyside Police on 101
Should pensioners be assessed before getting behind the wheel?
Dear OTSNews.co.uk, “With compliance to the ‘collision’ that happened yesterday on Chapel Lane.
“The elderly man (driving by himself) hit the BMW whilst it was parked up with the handbrake on. It ended up being pushed through someones garden wall and coming to a halt after hitting a concrete post.
“This is a clear example of why elderly people should NOT be allowed to drive (or their driving should be assessed on a regular basis).
“The collision happened across from a children’s school and if there had been any children around then the situation would have been far worse. The BMW was legally parked, in broad daylight, and is now wrote off.”
