WARNING over car thieves operating in Southport


Drivers are being warned to beware of car thieves in Southport .

A male has been breaking into cars in the middle of the night and stealing contents.

On one occasion a man stole a purse, gift cards etc and went on a spending spree.

He’s also done it to at least 6 others nearer Montomegary avenue, High Park road, Bispham road.

Mersyeyside Police are dealing with incident and have him on cctv spending on cards at a shop on Bispham road, High Park.

Police would like to speak to the man above in connection with the incidents.

He is wearing dark clothing, with a large backpack and a dark green baseball cap or hat on backwards. Age around 25-40.

Thefts from Motor Vehicles

Between March 17th – 28th thefts from motor vehicles have occurred in the following locations:

Hawesside Street, Scarisbrick Street, Vivian Drive, Saunder Street, Meols Cop Road, Trafalgar Road, Park Crescent, Kempton Park Fold, Kensington Road and Pilkington Road

Items left in and stolen from vehicles 7
Vehicle Registration plates removed and stolen 3

Park safely in a well-lit location 15 seconds
Activate alarm or other security devices 10 seconds
Lock all doors, the boot and close windows 10 seconds
Leave windscreen wiper in the off position to try and avoid vandalism 5 seconds

Less than 1 minute helps to secure your vehicle.
BUT leaving articles and money on view makes your vehicle a potential target.
RESULT this could mean damage to your vehicle and the loss of valuable property, an expensive repair bill and inconvenience.
Registration plates can be fitted with non- returnable screws to prevent them being stolen.
