WARNING issued after attempted burglary in Southport

An attempted burglary took place to an address on KINGSTON CRESCENT in Southport at approximately 01:00AM in the morning of Wednesday 22nd May.

Police patrols and police dog handlers on patrol in Southport responded to the 999 call, but on this occasion the offender(s) managed to get away.

Damage was caused to a garage in what appears to have been attempt to steal a motorcycle however, due to the prompt 999 call from a neighbour, no entry was gained. C

rime Scene Investigators have attended this morning and PCSO’s from Southport police station have attended for victim support and to conduct further local enquiries.

This is the second burglary where motorcycles were targeted in the Marshside area over a number of weeks. We are therefore appealing to motorcycle owners to review the security of their own bikes.

*Always lock your bike with a secure chain, or D-lock, preferably to a ground anchor or other solid object.
*If you have an alarm on your bike, always use it.
*Consider a shed alarm for your garage.
*If your shed/garage has windows then consider window alarms that go off when pressure is applied.
*Consider CCTV.
*If your bike is of high value, consider fitting a tracker or the use of Datatag

Always be wary of people observing you putting your bike away, and don’t publish route maps from rides out on social media, or if you do, start and finish the tracking a mile or so away from home.
