Mighty Radio hosts Martin Hovden and Cameron Maerevoet had the tables turned when studio guest Phil Calland started filming them for the last 10 minutes of their four-hour Live Sounds show.

Phil, a talented Southport songwriter, producer and videographer, was on the show to talk about how he got started in music and his experiences as a producer.

As the Tuesday night Live Sounds show – which provides a much appreciated platform for our local bands and musicians – started to wind down, Phil captured the moment Martin and Cameron headed towards the 10pm close:

* How many songs will they be able to play before handing over to the 10pm news bulletin and Scott Harrison’s through-the-night show?

* Will there be enough time for more chat?

* If they don’t hit the 10pm deadline, will they receive a late-night call from station manager Paul Tasker?

All is revealed in this fascinating glimpse of what goes on behind-the-scenes at Mighty Radio, Southport’s very own community radio station. Mighty won its five-year FM licence from radio regulator OFCOM late last year and went live on 107.9FM at the beginning of April.

Live Sounds celebrates two anniversaries this year. It’s 15 years since it started as a weekly column in the Southport Champion and Southport Visiter and 10 years since it took to the airwaves on Southport Community Radio and then Dune FM.

It is hosted by veteran Southport journalist Martin Hovden and talented singer/songwriter Cameron Maerevoet.

You can pick up Mighty Radio on 107.9FM, or online or via the Mighty Radio app.

AND don’t miss tomorrow’s (Tuesday 2 July) Live Sounds with studio guests Cameron Maerevoet and Lucy Brindle, both members of former Southport band ONE MARK OFF, from 6pm-10pm.
