Merseyside Police is carrying out an investigation following reports of an incident in Southport yesterday evening (Thursday 26th July 2018).
Officers were called to Saunders Street just after 7.30pm when members of the public reported two men riding a moped and heard a number of loud bangs.
At this stage of the investigation officers are treating the incident as an unconfirmed firearms discharge as there are no reports of anyone being injured and there is no evidence of a discharge. However, firearms officers and CSI have been deployed to the scene where they continue to carry out further investigations and house to house enquiries.
The offenders are described as wearing dark clothing, helmets and riding a moped. Following the incident they are believed to have fled in the direction of Albert Road.
