Update A Southport man is fighting for his life after an intruder broke into his home and assaulted him with a golf club. Emergency services were called in the early hours of this morning to a property on Cemetery Road after a frantic 999 call. When they arrived on scene they found a man, believed to be the homeowner, unconscious and suffering from sever head and torso wounds.
