UPDATE: Cllr David Barton – Lord Street North Litter Issue Article

“In response to this article I would like to update people on the situation.

I have received confirmation from Sefton Council that the issue is being caused by people who don’t know the refuse collection day in the area.

The council is to re-leaflet the area shortly and may take enforcement action whilst keeping an eye on the street for the accumulation of bags.

The Council does not provide sacks to residents however it is now aware of the issue being caused by when they are being put out for collection.

Cllr David Barton”

Rotting household rubbish is spewed all over the pavement outside the Lord Street Post Office, Southport.

The problem was first reported to Sefton six days ago.

On Saturday (30 July) Lord Street business owner John Sinclair said: “Dear Sefton Council, it has been like this for four days as you are aware by the complaints you’ve received and you’ve done nothing.”

“I hope this reaches someone who is able to authorise the removal of this – Sh@te!”

“I know if it was a banner etc you’d be out the same day to remove it can you apply the same attitude to this as it might be dangerous for the traffic wardens trudging every nook and cranny terrorising the public.”
