UPDATE | Appeal for information after stolen Vauxhall crashes through shop window

Police are appealing for information after a collision in Southport in the early hours of today (Monday 18 November).

A black Vauxhall Astra, which was believed to have been stolen from Janes Brook Road shortly before, came to the attention of patrols in Seabank Road, Southport at around 2.15am.

A short pursuit followed before the car, with a driver and passenger on board, was in collision with a shop front on Union Street, Southport.

The passenger, a 48-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment for a head injury. His condition is described as stable.

The driver of the car has not yet been located and efforts to locate him are ongoing.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
