UPDATE | Appeal for information after man is killed by TK Max wagon in Southport
Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Southport this afternoon, Saturday 9 September.
Shortly before 4pm, the ambulance service reported a collision involving a pedestrian and a heavy goods vehicle on Scarisbrick New Road.
The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was treated by paramedics and was sadly pronounced deceased at 4.49pm. Specialist family liaison officers will be supporting the next of kin of the man.
The driver of the lorry stopped to assist police with enquiries.
Scarisbrick New Road will be closed this evening, between Pilkington Road through to Meols Cop Road, while officers carry out their investigation. Road users are asked to find alternative routes.
