Businesses in Southport are continuing to struggle as two more stores cut their losses and leave the town.
Following the sad announcement that Villaggio Cucina would not open again in 2024 in Birkdale Village it’s been announced that 92 Degrees Coffee on Lord Street and the franchise run Subway on Ocean Plaza are closing or have already closed.
This weekend will be the last time customers will be able to enjoy a 92 Degrees Coffee, while Subway closed down on New Years Eve.
One person said “it’s a real shame that a growing business with backing and enthusiasm can’t survive in Southport,” as they paid tribute to the hardworking staff at 92 Degrees.
The closure of the three businesses, along with Britannia owned Pontins Southport, indicates a worrying trend as energy prices and bills continue to rise amid tightening wallets and a seasonal lack of spending after the festive period.
