Two men violently attacked and left unconscious in street on Butts Lane

Two men were violently attacked and left unconscious in the street after a confrontation outside the Thatch and Thistle on Saturday night.

Upon leaving the pub, the pair were attacked by two other men who were waiting in a car parked on Butts Lane.

Nearby residents left their homes to call the emergency services and administer first aid.

The pair were left unconscious in the middle of Butts Lane, with residents forced to stop passing traffic as to avoid hitting the men.

The pair were transported to hospital and police took statements from witnesses ahead of investigations.

Butts Lane is now fully reopened to passing traffic.
