Two car thieves arrested by Southport officers

On Saturday 1st September, Officers from the Local Policing Team based at Southport Police Station, spent time patrolling the Hightown area, in response to reports of two men who were seen trying car door (and house door) handles on Thursday 30th August. Police are aware that CCTV of these incidents has been shared on the Hightown Village Facebook page, but that not all of this evidence has been forwarded to us to investigate.

Social media has its value in raising awareness of incidents however, it is not part of the legal process. In order for the police to investigate fully and try to identify these offenders, video evidence has to be submitted through strict guidelines. Should you have CCTV evidence of this or any other non emergency crime you can report it using social media platforms at the MERSEYSIDE POLICE CC Facebook page or via Twitter @MerPolCC
The 101 number is often very busy, so if you cannot get through, please use these other methods to report non urgent crime.

Please do not try to report crime on this page.

IN AN EMERGENCY ALWAYS DIAL 999

In light of these reports from Hightown, local residents are strongly advised to ensure that car doors are locked at all times, alarms used where you have them, and that nothing of any value is left in vehicles that have been parked up. Likewise with front and back doors and windows of homes.

We will continue to patrol with these issues in mind over the coming shifts.
