Two car smash brings key bypass route to a grinding halt

Traffic on the Formby bypass is at a standstill after a smash near Ince Blundell.

Cars are being reduced to a slow crawl after two cars collided near to Lady Green Garden centre this afternoon.

The impact of the smash has completely written off one car and caused serious damage to another.

Nobody is thought to have been seriously injured in the incident and both drivers exchanged insurance details.

Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the area.

Traffic was already busy due to a nearby road being partially closed as a result of flooding due to heavy rain.
