The emergency services were called to Cambridge Road, Southport at around 3.40pm, Monday 6 July.
A navy Volvo pulled out from Bibby Road and collided with black Fiat Multiple travelling south bound down Cambridge Road.
The black Fiat Multipla and passengers were shunted across the other side of Cambridge Road, leaving the car lodged within garden wall missing a lamppost by inches.
The couple appeared to be unhurt but shaken.
The women and two children in the Fiat also appeared to be unhurt and escaped the vehicle although extremely shaken and upset.
A witness who missed being hit by the Fiat by just a few metres had a baby and small child in her car quoted:
“ I could see the Volvo just come driving out of little Bibby Road and it drove straight into the Fiat, it was very frightening especially with me having my children in my car. I had to brake suddenly and luckily there was no traffic behind me.
I just thought the car was going to hit me at full speed, as weather conditions were so bad.
I managed to stop and put my hazards on to warn any oncoming traffic, it left me extremely shaken and thinking ‘what if’.
Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt.”
Locals of the houses and flats on Cambridge Avenue came to the scene to offer help and to take shelter inside if the passengers wanted.
