Network Rail have closed a troubled train crossing in Birkdale this weekend after a sink hole reportedly developed,
A stretch of highway on Crescent Road level crossing has been shut and diversions are in place.
OTS understands this is due to a sink hole developing on the road just weeks after the road surface was treated by workers.
United Utilities say they are now fixing pipes under the road and it will be shut until midnight.
Dukes ward Councillor Mike Prendergast has been pushing Network Rail and United Utilities over recent months to fix the issues at the much troubled and dangerous crossing.
But despite contractors being sent to fix the road surface a few weeks ago, more problems began to develop with the road sinking in places, causing issues for drivers.
A burst pipe is thought to be creating the problem.
