Trio arrested after neighbours hear noises in empty house

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary following a reported break-in at a house in Birkdale.

At around 11pm last night, Thursday 13 February, it was reported that someone had entered an empty home on Oxford Road and were making a lot of noise.

Officers attended the address and thanks to a quick response time they were able to arrest three males at the scene.

The following men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody to be questioned:

– A 23-year-old man from Birkdale
– A 24-year-old man from Litherland
– A 23-year-old man from Birkdale

Chief Inspector Rob Budden said: “Thanks to the quick response from officers following a report made by a member of the public, we have been able to arrest three men at the scene on suspicion of burglary.

“We understand the distress that burglary can cause to victims and have, in Operation Castle, a dedicated burglary unit to investigate offences. If you have any information or have captured or seen anything suspicious at your home, come forward and we will take positive action to identify suspected offenders and put them before the courts.”
