A group of travellers have encamped on the grounds of the former Hesketh Centre in Southport.
The group moved in late Wednesday afternoon onto the site after initially finding land on the old coastal road.
Vans and caravans entered the unsecured grounds without force and remain on the land.
The property is still owned by the NHS and OTS News understands there is a complicated process to move them on.
At least ten vehicles have set up a camp at the Hesketh Centre and police have been made aware.
The building has been abandoned for a number of years and remains empty.
