A group of travellers have descended on the land owned by the Ainsdale sports club tearing up pitches and parking up caravans overnight
It’s thought the group of travellers gained access to the land after a failed bid to take over the land owned by Southport Rugby Club on waterloo road.
A spokesperson for The Ainsdale Club said ‘on the evening of May 26 our grounds were entered. Caravans and cars are now situated on the grass areas of the grounds
“Until a court order is passed or the group decide to move on we advise all members to stay away or be vigilant when attending the grounds for recreational use as per the government Covid19 guidelines.
“We advise all nearby sport and recreational areas to secure their land”
