Trans Pennine Trail, SOLGC Captains Charity Cycle Challenge 2-5 August 2017
On Tuesday 1st August 2017 twenty members and friends of Southport Old Links Golf Club will be travelling by car, van and mini bus to Hornsea on the east coast of England in preparation for the start of the Trans Pennine Trail charity cycle ride back to Southport.
The 215 mile, 4 day ride begins at the TPT Monument on the sea front at Hornsea at approx 9am on Wednesday 2nd August 2017, finishing at TPT Monument on Southport sea front mid afternoon of Saturday 5th August 2017.
Day 1 Wednesday 2nd August- Hornsea to Howden – 50 miles
Day 2 Thursday 3rd August – Howden to Worsbrough – 60 miles
Day 3 Friday 4th August – Worsbrough to Altrincham – 53 Miles
Day 4 Saturday 5th August- Altrincham to Southport – 52 Miles
There will be 15 cyclists and a support team of 5 taking part.
Cyclists and support team are paying for their own food and accommodation over the 4 days of the challenge.
Local businessman, Paul Ennis, has kindly sponsored cycling jerseys, printing & Van signage for the team.
All money that is raised in sponsorship will be split between the 2 charities.
With everyone’s support we hope to raise several thousand pound for each charity
On completion of the ride at the TPT Monument in Southport, it is intended to cycle via Lord Street back to our club for a celebratory reception.
