Trains between Southport and Liverpool won’t run tomorrow according to travel chiefs as a freak snowstorm is set to batter Southport.
Sefton Council said they re ready and waiting with a fleet of gritters to carpet the borough’s roads while Merseyrail expect the weather to be so bad, trains won’t be able to cope.
A Merseyrail spokesperson said “Due to forecasted adverse weather conditions affecting the railway, we are not expecting to be able to run a train service tomorrow.
“Customers should make alternative travel arrangements. If conditions improve, we will update you here and on our website.”
Elsewhere a Sefton spokesman said that roads would be covered in ice and snow tonight, adding “Please take care on the roads this evening.
We are expecting snow and ice, but our fab gritting team are ready to roll out to help keep the roads as safe as they can.”
