Trailing football player scores own goal after Southport sat nav cock up
A budding young footballer hoping to break through into the glittering sporting world scored a massive own goal after turning up to play for Southport FC last night.

The only catch for the unnamed trialist was the fact he was actually due to play at Northern League rivals Stockport County instead! The red faced youngster turned up to the dressing rooms at The Merseyrail community stadium expecting to play for Barrrow FC were due to play Stockport County but the player, who best hope his football skills are better than his geography, accidentally turned up for Southport FC’s home game against Accrington.
He was quickly sent on his way but failed to make it in time for the Stockport match – a little under fifty miles away.
