Town centre petrol station cordoned off after police incident

Police have closed off a petrol station near to Southport town centre following a suspected robbery.

The BP garage on Scarisbrick New Road has been completely closed this morning following a police incident in the early hours.

OTS understands an attempted robbery may have taken place.

Scientific support remain on scene this morning.

There is no disruption to traffic and Scarisbrick New Road remains fully open.

An update from Merseyside Police over the incident is expected shortly.
