Tourists are claiming that there are only a few good ice cream parlours left in the town after one family claimed they were forced to pay more than £20 for four ice creams.
Ellana Stephens took to Facebook to complain at the sky rocket price of four classic ice cream cones and a can of Diet Coke, which reportedly cost wallet grasping £22 at a Promenade ice cream and rock shop.
Ellana said “this was a ridiculous price and I’ve managed to feed all six of my family for cheaper than that before!
“The server gave them out one at a time before telling me how much or else I would have handed them back.”
One commenter replied to say “the price of anything these days is just so high and it’s daylight robbery.
“There are only a few genuine nice quality and reasonably priced parlours left. My favourite places to go are on Lord Street where they don’t overcharge.”
Another remarked: “I’m not surprised at all. It’s disgraceful that our tourists who are the lifeblood of Southport are being robbed blind by people who just see pound signs.”
