A top Southport hospital doctor with multiple decorations for his work in gynaecology has sadly passed away.
Sanjeev Sharma, a retired NHS consultant obstetrician who lived in Formby, died on Monday, February 7.
It was reported in 2020 how Mr Sharma was left blind after suffering a stroke when he was being treated for Covid.
He was an expert in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at both Southport Hospital and Ormskirk Hospital for nearly three decades.
A spokesperson for Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust said: “Very deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of our much-loved and recently retired obs and gynae consultant Mr Sanjeev Sharma.
“He was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at our Time To Shine Awards last December.”
MP Bill Esterson also paid tribute on social media Twitter, saying: “So sorry to learn of the passing of Sanjeev Sharma.
“He was a wonderful friend to many of us who knew him and a hugely respected hospital consultant, dedicated to his patients.
“Above all, Sanjeev was a loving husband and father and my thoughts are with Dee and Iona. Rest in Peace.”
