TOMMY FLEETWOOD has made an excellent start to his Ryder Cup career, but how much is the golf star worth? Express Sport is on hand with all the details.
Fleetwood was paired with Francesco Molinari to face the resurgent Tiger Woods and Masters winner Patrick Reed in the morning fourballs session.
Fleetwood and Molinari got the first point on the board for the Europeans and prevented a second consecutive whitewash in the process with the fourballs event finishing 3-1 to the Americans.
They trailed by two with eight to play, but Molinari birdied the 11th and 12th, with Fleetwood repeating the feat on the 15th and 16th before the Italian finished it in style with another birdie on 17.
“We are only halfway through the day so you have to keep going but, for me, I could talk about Fran all day,” Fleetwood told Sky Sports.
It was pure class. To have a partner like Fran is amazing.
“Those last few holes and the pressure you feel, you can see the leaderboard, and us being together that is the Ryder Cup, that feeling on 15 and 16.”
Fleetwood’s playing partner Molinari added: “We both played very well.
“We had a couple of moments when we had to reset, start again and get the crowd going a little bit and we need to get some points back this afternoon.”
