Thunderstorms cause widespread disruption
Thunderstorms struck the North West last night, causing the most damage in Southport and Formby.
The electrical storm rolled over the coast, knocking out large swathes of satellite signals and flooded part of Lord Street’s Garrick Parade after sewers became overwhelmed with the flash rainstorm.
Lightning also struck a tree on Liverpool Road causing part of the branch to snap off.
Contractors are now on scene removing the debris.
