Three people arrested after Formby bypass rush hour smash.
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a collision on the Formby by-pass today, Tuesday 6 June.
At 4.20pm officers attempted to stop an Audi S4 on Buckley Hill Lane, Netherton. The vehicle failed to stop and drove off along Buckley Hill Lane in the direction of Thornton.
Officers in a marked vehicle followed the car as it headed towards Southport along the Formby bypass.
At 4.24pm the Audi was in collision with another vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia, near to the Weld Blundell Public House. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were taken to hospital.
Two males left the Audi but were detained a short time later together with a third male.
The Formby bypass has been partially closed while the vehicles involved are recovered.
