’thoughtful’ idiots have dumped a sofa outside a bus stop in Southport, joking to a witness that they were leaving it as a comfy alternative to the existing seating.

Then confronted by an angry resident the fly tippers, described as two men in their late thirties, they simply laughed and got back in their van.

The mess is expected to stay there for weeks until binmen clear it away.
