Police are warning anyone who owns a Land Rover in Southport to make sure their vehicles are secured.
It follows three thefts in recent weeks in the town, with the latest happening in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Balmoral Drive.
A Range Rover Sport was stolen from the driveway of an address on Balmoral Drive in Southport at approximately 7:25am on Tuesday 20th September.
This is the third Range Rover/Land Rover car stolen in Southport in recent months.
The two cars stolen previously were both recovered.
One was found in Ormskirk and the other was
found in Skelmersdale. Investigations in to this
current theft are ongoing.
A police spokesperson said: “Land Rovers/Range Rovers are often targeted by thieves on a nationwide basis, and from CCTV the thieves seem able to access the cars freely and start them without keys.
“Therefore, owners are advised to consider adding extra measures to secure this type of vehicle. Steering/gear lever locks, wheel clamps, pedal covers, driveway posts are all measures which can be added to reduce the risk of theft.
In addition, we are aware from posts elsewhere on social media that there is an increase in thefts from motor vehicles in the Southport area again.
Please ensure that you always remove anything of value from your vehicle, and double check that it is locked before parking up, to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of this type of crime.”
