A church and charity is appealing for more volunteers to enable it to continue to provide support on a daily basis to the Southport community.
The Salvation Army in Southport, located on Shakespeare Street, has a number of volunteers already, but due to increasing numbers asking for help, it still needs more.
Volunteering opportunities available include supporting the onsite charity and coffee shops. The Salvation Army welcomes a variety of skills, including good communications and organisational skills.
Volunteers with experience across a range of sectors, including customer service, catering and retail as well as those looking to gain work experience, will be very welcome too..
Captain Alison Hutchings, joint church leader of The Salvation Army in Southport said: “Our volunteers play a big part in our offering to the local community; we simply wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without them and the support that each and every volunteer gives to us, giving up their time, is inspirational.
“The community centre here in Southport is very person-centred and in order for us to continue our work in the local community we’re on the lookout for more volunteers and we believe that everybody has something that they can give. Whether you have specific skills to offer or have just retired and looking to keep busy, or improve your own wellbeing, get in touch, as we would love to hear from you!”
Anyone interested in supporting The Salvation Army in Southport in a volunteering role can pick up an application form from the reception within the corps or by calling 01704 547805 for more information.
