The Learning Rooms brings you DFest this September
A special festival to raise funds for people and youngsters with learning disabilities is about to launch across Southport and West Lancashire.
DFest is a brand new festival initiative by the Learning Rooms Birkdale.
Learning Rooms Director Ruth Wareing told OTS News “The festival will enable clients to access the music festival environment as you or I would, in a safe and supported environment. Giving them the independence and freedom to relax and have a good time.
This is first of what we hope will become an annual event and grow from strength to strength. There will be 500 tickets available for sale in this our first year.
D Fest will be held in the grounds of Oaklea Barn Lydiate, a beautiful location with room for expansion once the festival is established. Oaklea Barn provides the ideal venue, with its own bar and purpose built facilities which will lend itself to our event.
Our headline band is UK Bjorn who are a successful Abba Tribute band. They will be supported by talented local groups and solo artists covering a wide genre of music.
The Gates open at 1.30pm the bands will start at 2.30pm and finish at 9.30pm.
There will be zorbs, karaoke, magicians, games, fully accessible toilets with hoist
“D Fest is committed to working with the local community to deliver a true festival experience to the client group who would not necessarily be able to attend this type of event.
The event will be non-profit making, with any profits we do make being used to fund next year’s festival.
“Ticket prices include two free drinks and free zorbing”
