The Fernley Pier Drone Footage Goes Viral within 24 hours

With final preparations underway for the second Fernley event on New Year’s Day the STORM team have been amazed with the viral response to their Fernley promo video filmed on Southport Pier.  The footage filmed by Bertie Cunningham aged 15 using a aerial drone has received over 12k views with 24 hours of its release on Facebook.  The short promo film was shot early in the morning with exclusive restricted access to Southport Pier.

The film shows Fernley event organiser Jonathan Cunningham and his dog Alfie enjoying a solitary run along the icy pier. The final inspirational shot shows a panoramic fly over view of the 1886 obelisk on Southport Promenade revealing a beautiful early morning across Southport.

Said Bertie. ‘The conditions were absolutely perfect for the filming although it was very cold I couldn’t feel my hands, so flying the drone and getting the ideal shots was an added challenge. It was great fun and I’m so pleased with the final results.

Jonathan Bertie’s dad said, ‘we just couldn’t believe the Facebook views we watched in increase by the hour and with over 160 shares it is set to increase yet further. Everyone was asking who shot the footage – so I was very proud to inform them it was my 15 year son Bertie.’   ‘If anyone has any suggestions of events or places that Bertie could film it was be good to hear from people to expand Bertie’s experience.

There is still time to book onto this unique New Years Day event at www.thefernley.co.uk or just turn up on the day. Registration commences underneath the pier at 0930 – 1045 hrs with the event starting at 1100hrs with the Procession of Oars.

Run, watch, walk or PLUNGE – its going to be a great event!
