A Southport bakery is celebrating after three of its pies won a Bronze Award at the prestigious British Pie Awards last Friday.
The Farmhouse Kitchen saw off tough competition from almost 900 entries to take home the accolade.
The award is a further success for the Farmhouse Kitchen, who picked up another Bronze award last year in the ‘Steak & Ale’ category.
The three award-winning pies were: ‘The Mother Clucker’ – a chicken, ham and mushroom pie – ‘The Southport Athletic JFC pie,’ and ‘The Queenie’.
The bakery has been producing its award-winning pies for over four years. While the offerings have proven popular with locals, the national recognition is a welcome endorsement of their quality.
Dr Matthew O’Callaghan, Chairman of the British Pie Awards, praised the winning pies. “I’m so pleased that The Farmhouse Kitchen Pies are amongst the Award Winners,” he said. “The judges were very complimentary about the pie which is why it won an Award.”
Pie lovers can get their hands on the celebrated baked goods from the bakery’s shop on Old Park Lane in Southport or The Grazing Lounge on Bold Street.
