The Corner House Vintage and Classic Car Meeting
Sunday 2nd of April and time to blow those winter cobwebs away a few of the members of West Lancs MG Owners Club went along to the first “Corner House Meet” of the year this is held on the car park of the Corner House pub and restaurant on Wood Lane,Wrightington,WN6 9SE.
This is a very popular venue for the locals of Lancashire and Greater Manchester to show off their pride and joys whilst enjoying some friendly banter with each other and the spectators who come along to feast there eyes on some of the fantastic cars on show, this FREE admission local show is held on the first Sunday of every month 09.00-11.30 and runs through till Autumn with a special New Year’s Day meet for those that didn’t over indulge the night before.
As you can see the weather was very kind to us with it being a little grey early on but full on sunshine by mid morning with not a drop of rain throughout the day.
The restaurant/pub is located in a semi-rural setting just a short drive from Junction 27 (Standish) on the M6 and dates back to the 1830’s. It has been a hostelry, wheelwrights, blacksmiths, and now of course, a very popular pub and restaurant which on Sunday car show dates sells early morning mouth watering bacon barms along with tea/coffee to the public at very reasonable prices. And of course if you are enjoying yourself that much that you don’t want to leave you could always stay on for a Sunday lunch from the extensive menu on offer.
We at WLMGOC brought along six cars and eleven members of which the line up included 2 MG-TC’s,3 MGF’s and a MGA.

There were a wide selection of cars turning up to this event and just two of my favourites were the Aston Martin DB5 (as people of a certain age will remember was the original and still the best 007 car) and also this stunning two tone Bentley with plush red leather interior.

Most car show dates West Lancs MG Owners Club have a few members who go along to either show their cars or just go along to have a look at the cars on show, so if you wake up early and your at a loose end and it’s the first Sunday of the month, before you get the lawn mower out come along and be surprised at this little gem of a FREE car show nestling on the border of Lancashire/Greater Manchester and just two minutes from the M6 you could do a lot worse!!
West Lancs MG Owners Club would like to thank the Corner House for organising this event every month but most importantly keeping the event FREE so as all can come along and enjoy the cars from vintage to classic and also some a little more modern there’s something here for everyone.
