Teens in stolen car arrested – after asking stranger how to turn the lights on
Two boys aged 13 and 15 were arrested in Southport on Friday night after stealing a car.
The duo’s audacious bid ended when they had to flag down a passing driver to ask how to turn the vehicle’s lights on.
The teenagers took the vehicle from their carer in the Manchester area before taking it for a joyride to the seaside.
Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit released footage of the incident, including the arrival of police on the scene – after the drama last night.

Officers from Merseyside police roads Traffic ream used a TPAC – a tactic designed to contain the vehicle – to prevent the boys from being able to flee.
Referring to the incident on its Twitter feed, Merseyside Police’s roads policing unit posted a short video of officers arriving at the scene, adding the TPAC had prevented the need for a police chase.
It added: “Youths had flagged down member of public in Astra as struggling with putting lights on!”
