Tarleton Concert Raises £7000 and Counting!

Thursday night saw the sun shine on an amazing private outdoor concert held in the memory of Georgina Callandar and Saffie Rose Roussos, in the village of Tarleton.

The scale of the concert was like nothing seen before for a community event. All the equipment, artists fees and staff all gave their services for free.

Security was tight to provide a reassuring presence in a village that has had a lot of media attention in the last few months. With family members and friends of the two young victims in attendance and joined by Seema Kennedy MP and the Mayor and Mayoress of West Lancashire it was a night of happiness, reflection and a coming together of a community.

In a beautiful start to the evening Tarleton Community Primary School Choir, where Saffie attended, performed. Throughout the event video messages were played on a massive screen next to the stage, including Amanda Holden, Jessica Ennis Hill, Union J and Beth Tweddle.

The SOLD OUT event saw the likes of Boogie Storm, Simon Cowells Golden Buzzer Act, Kevin Simm, the winner of Voice UK 2016 and ‘The One and Only’ Chesney Hawkes. One particular highlight was all the artists coming back out to perform the song ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. The night ended with a video from the One Love Manchester concert – Ariana Grande ‘One Last Time’ – which Ariana’s management company kindly gave permission to play, to end the night on a moving and reflective note.

The money raised is being split between the families of Georgina and Saffie and Tarleton Community Primary School and Runshaw college to provide a lasting memorial.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who enabled the concert to come together! No-one wanted to publically be thanked but their generosity is something which has touched a lot of people and provided an amazing memory for the children of Tarleton and a show of support for the families affected by the Manchester bomb.

Auction items donated for the concert are still open to bids on the One Voice One Love Facebook Page, until 3pm on Monday – simply go to photo albums, selection Auctions and add your bid. A team signed Man Utd shirt, Team signed England Shirt, Behind the scenes coronation street tour (new set), Signed original water colour from Nick Park plus lots more.
